Salesperson Pre licensing Education Requirements

Broker Pre licensing Education Requirements

  • Be 18 years old
  • Have held a real estate salesperson license for at least 2 years within the last 4 preceding applications . Click here to see additional information
  • Meet one of the following three options:
    • Complete the Board approved 72 hour program for Brokers within four years before submitting the application for licensure. Refer to Wisconsin Admin Code for more information about the Broker pre-license program. 
    • Complete 20 academic semester hour credits at an institute of higher learning in real estate or real estate related law. 
    • Submit evidence that you are licensed to practice law in Wisconsin.
  • Pass State and National Exam
  • Submit application to Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) with all required items.

Salesperson and Broker Continuing Education Requirements

  • Renewal periods are Biennium from 12/15 of each even year to 12/14 of each even year.
  • A person who was issued/granted their original or initial salesperson license is now required to satisfy the continuing education requirement during the biennium in which the person receives that license, except that a person who was issued/granted their original or initial salesperson license after October 1, of an even year, is not required to satisfy the continuing education requirement and is exempt for that one renewal cycle only.
    • Complete 18 hours of Continuing Education to include:
    • Pay applicable fees 
    • Renewals can be done online or via paper forms

    • As of December 1st, 2016 Brokers are no longer exempt from CE requirements if their first biennium being licensed as a Broker.
