West Virginia Salesperson Licensing Education Requirements

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Provide proof of high school diploma or equivalent
  • Complete 90 hours of education within a 5 year period preceding the application. An original certificate of completion is required with application. 
  • Complete and pass background check before taking licensing examination. See Application here, once application is approved results will be sent to PSI. PSI will then contact applicant for testing.
  • Pass State and National Exam
  • Submit application signed by Broker who holds an active broker license in West Virginia. Include 2 recommendations with application from property owners who:
    • Have known the applicant for at least 2 years
    • Are not related to the applicant
    • Are not affiliated with the applicant as an employer, partner, or associate or with the broker that will employ the applicant.
    • Believe the applicant bears good reputation for honesty, trustworthiness, and fair dealing.
    • Believe the applicant is competent to transact business in a manner that would protect the interest of the public. 

West Virginia Broker Licensing Education Requirements

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Provide proof of high school diploma or equivalent
  • Submit application to sit for the Real Estate Broker Exam
  • Provide proof that have completed 90 hours in education as Salesperson in West Virginia. Also submit proof of a successful completion of 90-hour Broker pre-license course. See more information here
  • Must have been actively licensed as salesperson for a minimum of 2 years and submit experience forms also include Broker Affidavit of Salesperson Training form
  • Submit application to obtain a Broker’s License found here and pay all applicable fees

Salesperson & Broker Continuing Education Requirements

  • Renewals are every year by June 30th. Any licensee who does not renew his or her license by June 15th of the year subsequent to the year in which the licensed expired shall be required to comply with all requirements for obtaining a licensed, including the examination requirement.
  • Licensees must complete 7 hours of education. In order to receive credit, the courses must be taken during the fiscal year preceding the fiscal year for which the licensee is applying for renewal.
