North Carolina Broker Licensing Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have U.S. citizenship or a green card
  • Have a Social Security number
  • Complete a background check
  • Complete a 75-hour North Carolina broker prelicensing course
  • Once completed, you must submit your application, fee, and required documentation to the state before scheduling your exam with a testing provider. Applications can be found online at www.ncrec.gov.

Important 180-Day Access and Completion Policy

Access to your entire licensing package is limited to 180 days from the date of purchase. This includes the asynchronous online video course, all supplemental materials, and any included resources. Per North Carolina Real Estate Commission Rule 58H .0207(b), you must complete your course, including passing the proctored end-of-course exam, within this 180-day period. Course access extensions cannot be granted.  

Please note that proctoring sessions fill up in advance. Plan accordingly and allow for enough time to schedule a session and pass your exam(s) before your deadline. We recommend scheduling your proctoring session at least two weeks in advance of a desired session date.
