Real Estate Salesperson Prelicensing Education Requirements

A. Be at least 18 years old
B. Complete 72 hours of education within four years before submitting for licensure; or,
C. Complete 10 academic semester credits in real estate or real estate related law
D. Pass the state and national exam
E. Submit an application to the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) with all required items

Real Estate Broker Prelicensing Education Requirements

A. Be at least 18 years old
B. Have held a real estate salesperson license for at least two years within the last four preceding the application
C. Meet one of the following three options:

a. Complete the Board-approved, 72-hour program for brokers within four years before submitting the application for licensure. Refer to Wisconsin Admin Code for more information about the broker prelicense program
b. Complete 20 academic semester hour credits at an institute of higher learning in real estate or real estate related law
c. Submit evidence that you are licensed to practice law in Wisconsin

D. Pass the state and national exam
E. Submit an application to the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) with all required items

Real Estate Salesperson and Broker Continuing Education Requirements

A. Renewal periods are biennium from 12/15 of every even year to 12/14 of every even year
B. Complete 18 hours of continuing education to include:

a. Six three-hour modules with specific course content. 2021-2022 Continuing Education Curriculum lists detailed education outlines

C. Pay applicable fees
D. Renewals can be done online or via paper forms

F. As of December 1, 2016, brokers are no longer exempt from CE requirements if it is their first biennium being licensed as a broker
