Real Estate Salesperson Prelicensing Education Requirements
A. Be 18 years or older
B. Submit to background check and fingerprinting
C. Complete 90 hours of education to include the following courses:
a. Course I—30 hours
b. Course II—30 hours
c. Course III—30 hours
d. Obtain certificates of completion after proctored exams in each course. This can be done by a third party (someone who has no interest in your passing or failing the exam) or by a proctor at our campuses in St. Paul or Bloomington, Minnesota
D. Course I must be completed and the proctored exam taken before scheduling the state and national exam
E. Course II and III can be completed before or after exams but must be completed before applying for the license
F. Within 12 months of passing the exam, apply for license
G. Work for a licensed broker
Real Estate Broker Prelicensing Education Requirements
A. Have a minimum of three years of experience as an actively licensed salesperson within the previous five year period prior to submitting an application
B. Successfully complete the 30-hour broker course
C. Pass the broker’s examination
D. Within 12 months of completing the course, apply for a broker’s license, and pay the applicable fee
Real Estate Salesperson Continuing Education Requirements
A. Each licensee must complete 30 hours by June 30 of the renewal year. Renewal periods are two years long
a. MN advises applicants complete education by June 15th for a timely reporting of education
B. Applicants must complete the following required topics within the renewal period:
a. One hour of training to specify in Agency Representation and Disclosure
b. One hour of training in State and Federal Fair Housing Laws, Regulations, and Rules, and other anti-discrimination laws
i. ***This does not apply to Commercial Salesperson’s***
c. Obtain 3.75 or 7.5 hours of module training every license year per designated course by the state
Real Estate Broker Continuing Education Requirements
A. Each licensee must complete 30 hours by June 30 of the renewal year. Renewal periods are two years long

B. The primary broker must certify through the online renewal process that the licensee has completed the required hours
C. Applicants must complete the following required topics within the renewal period:
a. One hour of training to specify in Agency Representation and Disclosure
b. One hour of training in State and Federal Fair Housing Laws, Regulations, and Rules, and other anti-discrimination laws
i. ***This does not apply to Commercial Salesperson’s***
c. Obtain 3.75 or 7.5 hours of module training every license year per designated course by the state
