If you cancel prior to 72 hours before the first class begins, you will receive a complete refund minus the original shipping cost. If you cancel within 72 hours of the start of the first class, we cannot give you a refund, but we will be happy to transfer your tuition fee to another course of equal or lesser value within one year.

If you cancel one of our live broker or BIC continuing education courses, we will be happy to carry your tuition fee forward for one year from the original date of purchase to another CE Course. A $10 rescheduling fee will apply per CE course. There are no refunds (no exceptions) for live or online CE courses.
The North Carolina Real Estate Commission mandates that course access for online, elective continuing education courses be capped at a maximum of 30 days. As a result, your enrollment in any online continuing education course with Kaplan will expire 30 days from the time of purchase.
If you are registered for one of our live broker or BIC CE courses and you do not show up for the course, you must call our Administrative Office at 800.849.0932 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, to reschedule the course. You will be charged a $10.00 Rescheduling Fee to move to another CE course.
State law requires students to attend at least 80% of the classroom hours in order to get credit for the Broker Prelicensing Course. Students can be absent for a maximum of 15 hours of classroom time and still get credit for the course if they pass the course exam. This applies to both live and live online classroom courses. Obviously, time missed in the classroom will hurt your chances of learning the material and passing the Course Exam.
State law requires all CE students to attend at least 90% of a 4 hour CE course including breaks. CE students who are absent from the classroom more than 24 minutes will not receive credit for a CE course. (For example, if a CE course begins at 8:30 am, and you arrive in the classroom after 8:54 am, by State law, our instructor will not allow you to enter the CE classroom, and we cannot give you credit for the CE course. We will consider you to be a "no show," and you should call our administrative office at 800.849.0932 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, to reschedule your CE course for a $10.00 rescheduling fee.) This applies to both live and live online classroom courses.
Broker Prelicensing Course students must pass a 112-question course exam in order to receive a Certificate of Completion from Kaplan Real Estate Education and to qualify to take the State Licensing Exam. Our students must score 75% (84 correct answers out of 112 questions) in order to pass our course exam.
Broker Postlicensing Course students must pass a short course exam (consisting of 24 to 32 questions) in order to receive a Certificate of Completion from Kaplan Real Estate Education. Students must answer a minimum of 75% of the test questions correctly to pass the course exam in each of the three broker postlicensing courses.
There is NO STATE EXAM in any of the broker postlicensing courses. After you have passed the course exam, we simply report to the North Carolina Real Estate Commission that you have successfully completed your broker postlicensing course. When you have successfully completed all three of the broker postlicensing courses, the North Carolina Real Estate Commission will remove the “Provisional Status” of your broker license.
State law permits schools the option of offering students who fail their course exam to take retake exams. Some schools do not give their students the opportunity to attempt a retake exam.
Kaplan requires students to complete their course exam and retake the exam(s), if necessary, within 21 days of the last day of their class or within 180 days of enrollment in an online course. Students can enroll in Kaplan’s virtual proctoring service to sit for their exam. All of our students are given the opportunity to take the Retake Exam, if necessary, through our virtual proctoring service.
Broker Prelicening Course students who do not pass the course exam and the retake exam(s) can repeat our Broker Prelicensing Course during the next 6 months, completely free of charge.
Broker Postlicensing Course students who do not pass the course exam and the retake exam can repeat our broker postlicensing course one time during the next 12 months, completely free of charge.
If you would like to change your Exam Prep Course date, please call our administrative office at 800.849.0932 to reschedule.
After you have successfully completed one or more of our like broker or BIC CE course(s), Kaplan Real Estate Education will report electronically within seven (7) days to the North Carolina Real Estate Commission that you have successfully completed your CE Course(s). We will give you a Certificate of Completion at the end of your CE course(s) to keep for your own records.
