In order to earn your first South Dakota real estate license, you’ll need to:
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Be a citizen of the U.S. or a resident of South Dakota.
- Take 116 hours of real estate education in courses approved by the South Dakota Real Estate Commission.
- Comply with all application procedures, including fingerprinting and background check.
- Pass the real estate licensing exam, including state and national portions.
- Associate with a licensed Responsible Broker and provide proof of errors and omissions insurance prior to license issuance.
