Review the Oklahoma Real Estate Commission’s real estate licensing and continuing education requirements.
In order to earn your first Oklahoma real estate license, you’ll need to:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Be a U.S. citizen or qualified alien
- Take 90 hours of real estate education in a course approved by the OREC
- Comply with all application procedures, including fingerprinting and background check
- Pass the state and national portions of the licensing exam
- Be associated with a licensed sponsoring broker

Reciprocity: Oklahoma offers partial reciprocity in the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, Iowa, Louisiana, Maryland, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota
Steps to Real Estate License Reciprocity in Oklahoma:
- Sales Associates or Broker Associates
- Step 1: Complete continuing education in the following categories: Oklahoma Code and Rules (1 hour); Oklahoma Broker Relationship Act (1 hour); and Oklahoma Contracts and Forms (6 hours)
- Step 2: Obtain a license certification history for all states where you’ve held a real estate license
- Step 3: Apply online
- Step 4: Complete a background check
- Brokers
- Step 1: Complete continuing education in the following categories: Oklahoma Code and Rules (1 hour); Oklahoma Broker Relationship Act (1 hour); and Oklahoma Contract and Forms (6 hours)
- Step 2: Complete an approved Broker in Charge course
- Step 3: Obtain a license certification history in all states where you’ve held a real estate license
- Step 4: Apply online
- Step 5: Complete a background check
- Expedited licenses are issued to military spouses in states with substantially similar education, training, and experience requirements
- State agencies will provide a temporary license for a limited time if requirements differ while the military spouse meets Oklahoma’s requirements
- Military spouses can request an expedited temporary license upon receiving military orders to move to Oklahoma. If they are in good standing and have comparable qualifications, the license will be granted within 30 days.
- Some licensing fees are waived
