Reciprocity: Kansas does not offer reciprocity.

Requirements for Out-of-State Salespeople:

  • Complete the Kansas Practice Course
  • Complete the Kansas Broker Law Course (not required, but is highly recommended)
  • Pass the State Licensing Exam at a Pearson VUE Test Center near you
  • Complete a fingerprint background check
  • Submit license application

Military Portability:

  • State agencies will issue licenses to military spouses within 15 days of receiving an application
  • If the spouse doesn’t meet Kansas licensure requirements, a probationary license will be issued if they have a valid license from another state with a similar scope of practice, at least one year of experience, no disciplinary actions or disqualifying criminal record, and pay all fees
  • The probationary license will be valid for up to 6 months, at which point it will automatically become permanent
  • Additional testing, training, or education may be required if the spouse has not been active in the profession for the previous 2 years
  • If Kansas requires a license but the state of origin does not, the spouse may still qualify for a license if they have at least 3 years of work experience in the previous 4 years
  • If the state of origin issues private certification instead of a license, the spouse may be granted a license if they have certification in good standing, 2 years of experience, and pay all fees
  • Temporary licenses may be granted if the spouse’s license from another state has a different scope of practice, allowing them time to meet Kansas-specific requirements
