Connecticut Real Estate Licensing Information, Reciprocity, and Portability

Reciprocity: Connecticut offers full reciprocity with the following states: Alabama, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma, Rhode Island

 

Steps to Real Estate License Reciprocity in Connecticut:

  • Step 1: Have an active real estate license in good standing with no disciplinary proceedings or unresolved complaints
  • Step 2: Submission of license history with your completed, notarized application
  • Step 3: Complete the state portion of the Connecticut Real Estate Licensing Examination if you’re from Florida, Illinois, Indiana, or Ohio, or haven’t passed a written examination in a reciprocal state
  • Step 4: The supervising broker must have an active Connecticut broker license for salesperson applicants


Military Portability: 

  • Hold a valid license in the same profession from another U.S. jurisdiction
  • Has at least four years of experience, including (i) practice under such license, permit, certification or registration, (ii) classroom education, and (iii) on-the-job training
  • Be in good standing, with no revocations, disciplinary actions, or pending investigations
  • Pass any required background or character checks
  • Pay all standard application fees

Steps for Obtaining Massachusetts License Reciprocity
  1. Earn your Massachusetts real estate salesperson license:
    • Complete 40 hours of education 
    • Submit a real estate salesperson license application that includes three candidate endorsements 
    • Pass the Massachusetts State and National Exam within two years of completing your education 
    • Ensure that your supervising broker has an active Connecticut broker license 
  2. Apply for Connecticut license reciprocity through the Connecticut Real Estate Commission
