Illinois Licensing Information, Reciprocity, and Portability

Reciprocity

Illinois offers reciprocity with the following states: Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Indiana (brokers only), Iowa, Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Kentucky

 

Steps to Real Estate License Reciprocity in Illinois

  1. Provide a certificate of licensure. The current license must be in good standing. 
  2. Complete the Reciprocal Application and pay the licensing fee.
  3. Pass the state portion of the reciprocal state’s licensing exam.

Military Portability

  • Ensure you or your spouse have current Active-Duty Permanent Change of Stations (PCS) orders to a station in Illinois
  • PCS orders dated more than 1 year ago must be accompanied by a letter signed by the commanding officer verifying you or your spouse are still stationed in Illinois
  • You must have been actively licensed within the prior 2 years, from the date of submission of your application, in the profession for which you are now applying
  • Submit a licensure certification showing good standing from all jurisdictions where you are licensed, including those where you have been practicing in the prior 2 years
  • Show proof of service as indicated in Part I of the application
