Nevada State Real Estate Licensing Exam Information

Salesperson Examination/Application Process

Real estate exams are administered by Pearson VUE, a private company. Candidates may make a reservation for the licensing exam by either going online or by telephone. The Pearson VUE Nevada Salesperson License Exam should be taken after completion of forty-five (45) hours or 3 college credits of Real Estate Principles and forty-five (45) hours or 3 college credits of Real Estate Law (must include 18 hours Nevada law). Online reservations are the most efficient way for candidates to schedule their examination by going to www.pearsonvue.com/nv/realestate. Candidates must make an online reservation at least twenty-four (24) hours before the desired examination date. Candidates can also make a phone reservation at (888) 248-8055. Once the examination is passed candidates must apply for the salesperson’s license with the Nevada Real Estate Division. The Real Estate Division’s website is http://red.nv.gov.

What to Expect on Exam Day

On the day of the examination you should arrive 30 minutes before your appointment. This extra time is for sign-in, identification, and familiarizing yourself with the examination process. If you arrive late, you may not be admitted to the examination site and you will forfeit your examination registration fee. Your picture will be taken during check-in, and will be on the score report. Pearson VUE offers electronic fingerprinting to candidates at the following test centers: Las Vegas (Flamingo) and Reno. Candidates testing at either of these test centers must make an advance reservation with MorphoTrust, USA to have their fingerprints captured on the same date as their exam appointment by making a fingerprint appointment online at https://pearsonwest.ibtfingerprint.com or by calling MorphoTrust, USA at (866) 761-8069. Use your full legal name, as it appears on your government-issued ID, when you make your fingerprint reservation. The fingerprint fee must be paid at the time of the reservation.

Acceptable Forms of Identification

Candidates must present two (2) forms of current signature identification. The name on the identification must exactly match the name on the registration. The primary identification must be government issued and photo-bearing with a signature and the secondary identification must contain a valid signature. Identification must be in English.

Time to Complete Salesperson’s License Exams

There are two portions to the exam:

  • Combination – 240 minutes
  • General (National) Portion – 150 minutes
  • State Portion – 90 minutes

Number of Questions on Salesperson’s License Exams:

  • Combination - 120
  • National – 80 questions
  • State – 40 questions

Notification of Results Process

Your score will be given to you immediately following completion of the examination. You need to answer 75% of questions correctly in order to pass the examination. Candidates who pass the examination will receive a score report that includes information on how to apply for a license.

Retake provisions

Candidates who fail the examination will receive a score report that includes a numeric score and diagnostic information relating to the general section of the examination, as well as information about reexamination. Those who pass one part of the exam and fail the other, need to retake only the failed part within twelve (12) months. Candidates who after twelve (12) months have not passed both parts must retake the entire exam.
