Attention all Minnesota contractors and remodelers who became an EPA Certified Renovator. That certification will expire after 5 years. You must complete this 4-Hour EPA Certified Renovator Refresher Training Course in order to maintain your Certified Renovator status. Kaplan offers this EPA-approved 4-hour refresher course that will add an additional 5 years to your Certified Renovator status. This course satisfies all the refresher requirements At the end of this course, you will receive an EPA certificate showing your successful completion of the course, including photo ID. Remember that the EPA is finding and fining contractors for not being certified or for not following the RRP rules and procedures. The fines are up to $37,500 per occurrence per day. NOTICE: Students seeking EPA recertification are required to provide their initial individual (not firm) certified renovator certificate prior to this class.

Be aware that your enrollment will be cancelled if you fail to provide Kaplan with your original 8-hour Lead-Based Paint Renovation, Repair and Painting Program OR 4-Hour Certified Renovator Refresher Training Course Completion Certificate PRIOR to class.

As a requirement of the EPA, the training provider must collect a copy of each student’s prior course completion certificate (i.e., the initial 8 Hour Lead course certificate with the photo identification) prior to the student taking the 4 Hour Refresher Course. In order to receive EPA credit for the 4 Hour Refresher course, please follow the directions below:

  • If this is your first 4 Hour Refresher course, you will be required to provide your initial individual (not firm) Certified Renovator certificate prior to class. (i.e., the initial 8 Hour Lead course certificate with the photo identification)
  • If this is your second or subsequent 4 Hour Certified Refresher course, you will be required to provide your 4- hour Certified Refresher Course certificate prior to class.
