As a Licensed Appraiser in South Dakota, you will be allowed to appraise non-complex, one- to four-unit residential properties having a transaction value of less than $1,000,000. Under this license classification, you will also be licensed to appraise complex one- to four-unit residential properties having a transaction value of less than $250,000.
In order to become a South Dakota Licensed Appraiser, you must first complete 150 creditable class hours (this includes the 75 hours already completed to become a Registered Appraiser). You must also complete 1,000 hours of appraisal experience in no less than 12 months. In addition, you are required to pass a state licensing exam.
