As an Apprentice Appraiser, you will be allowed to perform appraisals under a supervising Certified Appraiser. You will be licensed to appraise properties that your supervisor’s current credentials qualify him or her to appraise.
You are not required to have any experience in appraisal to become a New Mexico Apprentice Appraiser. However, you are required to complete 75 creditable class hours of approved education and pass the New Mexico Apprentice Appraiser Exam. When you are licensed, you will be required to operate under the direct supervision of a Certified Appraiser in good standing. If you’d like more information, view the New Mexico State Appraisal Licensing Requirements page.
