How Do I Get My New Mexico Appraisal License?

Your courses are offered by Brightwood College | Baltimore

Apprentice Appraiser

1 | Complete Education

Finish 75 hours of required Apprentice Appriaser education.

2 | Take the Exam

Successful completion of a written examination on the New Mexico Real Estate Appraisers Act, administered by the board.

3 | Apply for Your License

Submit a duly made application to the board office.

4 | Maintain Your License

Brightwood College, curriculum by Kaplan Real Estate Education, is here to provide you with everything you need to maintain your license.
We offer Appraiser CE and can also help you upgrade your license to the New Mexico Licensed Appraiser level.

 

Licensed Appraiser

1 | Complete Education

Complete 75 additional hours of specified upgrade licensing education for Licensed Appraisers. Must previously have met the Apprentice Appraiser education requirements.

2 | Obtain Experience

Complete 2,000 hours of appraisal experience under the direction of a supervisor in no fewer than 12 months.

3 | Take the Exam Prep Course (optional)

Register for Appraisal Review Crammer course (optional). Make sure you pass the Licensed Appraiser Exam the first time! This optional course will build your test-taking skills to ensure that you do.

4 | Take the Exam

Sign up for the Licensed Appraiser Exam. Contact Pearson VUE, the testing service that provides state licensure exams, at 800.274.7488 or www.pearsonvue.com.

5 | Apply for Your License

Pass the Licensed Appraiser Exam and apply for your license with the state.

6 | Maintain Your License

Certified Residential Appraiser

1 | Complete Education

Finish 50 additional hours of specified upgrade licensing education for Certified Residential Appraisers. Must previously have met the Apprentice Appraiser and Licensed Appraiser
education requirements.

2 | Obtain Experience

To fulfill the mandated 2,500 hours of experience, complete an additional 500 hours of experience under the direction of a supervisor. The entire 2,500 hours of experience must be acquired in no fewer than 24 months.

3 | Take the Exam Prep Course (optional)

Register for Appraisal Review Crammer course (optional). Make sure you pass the Certified Residential Appraiser Exam the first time! This optional course will build your test-taking skills to ensure that you do.
